◇ NEPALESE BODHI SEED MALA 10mm

****************************************************○ Why this beads are so sough after by Tibetan Lama monk and layman alike?

****************************************************
○ Lord Buddha attained enlightenment meditating under a Bodhi tree. This type of tree is extinct apart from a small area in Nepal

○ Bodhi was used as currency and a complete mala, originally of 100 beads could be collected over decades because of rarity and high price. Tibetan monk/ Lama would have been offering they services and be paid in various ways including Bodhicitta beads. Layman would also donate they beads to monasteries and monk

○ Small beads of 8mm and 9mm are extremely rare and increasingly 10mm, every year only a few complete mala or none at all can be made by all the beads being collected from all the tree owners in Nepal, so they command high prices with 8mm and 9mm price starting at thousands of dollars

○ Why Antique mala are rarely coming on the market?

****************************************************
○ Due to increased pressure, Tibetans stopped craft manufacturing and age old skills were lost.
